DR. RICHARD S. EISENBERG - WARNER CENTER OPTOMETRY

Richard S. Eisenberg, O.D.

Dr. Richard S. Eisenberg is a highly trained and experienced optometrist who has been as intimately involved in the research, development, and fitting of specialty contact lenses as he has been in the clinical practice of optometry. As a pioneer clinical investigator for Bausch and Lomb, he helped pave the way for the first soft contact lenses to be FDA approved for wear in the U.S. in 1971. In private practice in Woodland Hills since 1974, Dr. Eisenberg has served as field investigator for a variety of contact lenses prior to FDA approval, including The Hydrocurve Toric® and the now popular Soflens 38® disposable contact lenses. With a special interest in Ophthalmic Wellness, his research in the prevention of ocular disease through the use of specific vitamin and antioxidant therapy, has helped one of the nation's largest vitamin manufacturers reformulate their vitamin to include all the necessary elements helpful in maintaining ocular tissue integrity.

Dr. Eisenberg has completed his post-graduate clinical training and is Board Certified to treat and manage ocular disease as defined by the California State Board of Optometry. He is on the attending staff at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Providence-Tarzana Medical Center

Dr. Eisenberg has been actively involved in laser vision correction surgery since the FDA approved the procedure in April of 1995. He has studied LASIK procedures in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Over the years, he has been affiliated with 8 laser eye centers in Southern California, including the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He has helped many of these centers set up their optometric protocols for co--managing laser vision correction patients. Currently, Dr. Eisenberg is the President of the TLC Optometric Advisory Board and serves as the Optometric Liaison of the Berg-Feinfield/TLC Vision Correction Center for the Greater Los Angeles area. Dr. Eisenberg teaches other doctors how to incorporate LASIK into their own busy optometric practices.

Each year, The Dr. Richard S. Eisenberg Scholarship of $500 is presented to a fourth year student at the Southern California College of Optometry who can present the best idea to enhance the profession of optometry. Dr. Eisenberg has received a number of awards including The Mayor's Award from the City of Los Angeles and the Vision U.S.A. award from President George Bush. He has received numerous awards from the California Optometric Association and is in Who's Who in California, Who's Who in America, and the National Who's Who in Medicine.
